Finance Ministers

While a number of British monarchs, the British head of state, have been foreign-born over the centuries – such as William III (the Hague, Holland), George I (Osnabruck, Holy Roman Empire) and George II (the last British monarch to have been born outside Great Britain. Hannover, Germany) – heads of government have all been British-born.

Except, that is, for Andrew Bonar Law. He was born in the crown colony of New Brunswick in autumn 1858, almost a decade before the colony became one of the four original provinces that entered Canadian confederation in 1867.

If that was not distinction enough, Law turned out to have been in the office of Prime Minister for the shortest ever duration; only 211 days (October 1922 - May 1923). On accepting the office he was 64 years, 37 days of age.
